Would you like to admire a tumultuous and sparkling water in a sumptuous natural site ? Then the Waterfall of Dard (Cascade du Dard) in Chamonix awaits you ….
I don’t know you … But as far as we are concerned, we love hiking in the mountains, living close to nature, discovering more spectacular landscapes than others, practicing a dynamic physical activity and sports. We had already done several hikes around Chamonix and we were looking for a new one. When we went to the Tourist Office, we were told about this famous Waterfall of Dard (Cascade du Dard) in Chamonix. So we decided to go there this Wednesday, July 3rd, 2019, under a blazing sun.
At first we have a bit of trouble finding the beginning of the hike, in fact it starts from the parking Grépon tunnel side of Mont Blanc.
At first, we go along the Route Blanche for a while. Then, we go next to the Devouassoud Bells factory. The road is a little busy in this early hike, but when we enter the forest, it’s really much more fun. Well it’s sporty, it climbs a lot. But it’s such an incredible feeling to be in the forest.
Phew! After an hour of steep paths, we get the reward for our efforts: we see this impressive 20 meters high waterfall. It is in the middle of the greenery. We finally reach it by going down a series of steps and crossing a small wooden bridge. Once down, we take the time to take pictures to immortalize this magical moment.
As we are great walkers, and as the walk is a delight, we decide to continue to Cerro to see the Bossons glacier. The Cerro is an old cottage converted into a restaurant. It is located at 1358m above sea level.
